NordVPN vs Windscribe

NordVPN is the most advertised VPN there is. Windscribe is the one people recommend to each other once they have stopped reading advertisements. The comparison is more interesting than the size difference suggests, because they are strong in places that do not overlap at all.

Signing up without saying who you are

Windscribe asks for no email address and sets no password. You can be protected without telling the service who you are, which is the property that defines the top of this directory's ease scale, and Windscribe scores 5 for ease on it. It also places no limit on simultaneous devices, on the free plan as well as the paid one, and lets you buy only the countries you use rather than a bundle.

NordVPN wants an account, an email address and a card, and caps you at ten devices. What it gives back is reach: a route into Tor without a separate browser, and a SOCKS5 proxy. Both have obfuscation and multi-hop.

The price you were shown against the price you pay

Windscribe renews at the rate it charged, with no introductory pricing to expire. NordVPN's advertised rate covers twenty-seven months and then renews at more than three times it, which is the single most common reason people leave.

The reverse of all this is evidence. NordVPN has been through six outside reviews of its no-logs claim, the most recent by Deloitte in December 2025, though the report is readable only from inside a paid account. Windscribe's last outside review of the server software was Packetlabs in June 2024, which is past the two-year mark and old enough to matter for a claim that depends on current practice. Canada is also inside the five-country intelligence agreement, where Panama is outside every one.

Which should you choose?

Choose Windscribe if you want to sign up without an identity, cover an unlimited number of devices, or stop being repriced at renewal. Choose NordVPN if a recent, repeated audit is the thing you are actually buying, or if you need to reach Tor.
